The DPW Team is responding.

At this time all paved roads have been initially treated with salt and sand, the trucks are on there way to hit the gravel roads with sand.

Please use caution when if attempting to drive.

If you do not have to travel, you may want to wait until the weather warms later this afternoon

...Freezing Rain Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...

* hazard types...freezing rain

* ice accumulations...around a tenth of an inch.

* Timing...freezing rain is already occurring. By this evening
temperatures will warm enough above freezing for plain rain.

* Impacts...roadways are icy and travel is extremely difficult.
Even when temperatures initially climb above freezing...very
cold surfaces may still lead to some icing.

* Winds...southeast 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

* Temperatures...in the mid 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.

If you need sand for your driveway, the District maintains a tax payer sand pile at DPW II.  The sand pile for taxpayers is the smaller pile close to Eidelweiss Drive. TaxPayerSandPilePlease do not take any materials from any other area at DPW II as it may jeopardize the DPW's ability to treat the roads in the District. Taxpayer sand is available at DPW II; 24 Eidelweiss Drive; The pile is to be used for personal use only.

With the rate of snow fall at over an inch per hour yesterday afternoon with continued heavy snow fall into last night, the DPW focused on keeping the main roads open and passable to all areas of the District.

Smaller roads and dead ends are being cleared this morning.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while the storm is cleaned up.
